The intent of the Rays Place Entrepreneurship Scholarship is to provide funds to a qualified applicant meeting the following selection criteria:Full-time, undergraduate junior or senior in the College of Business Administration, preferable majoring in Entrepreneurship; meet a set minimum GPA; be employed for a minimum of 15 hours a week; have a need for financialassistance.
Thank you for visiting the Rays Place Entrepreneurship Scholarship page.I attended Kent State University and received my degree in business administration in the last century. My college education was mostly self-financed. I was able to pay for my time at KSU with the help of the GI bill and two part time jobs while in school as well as full time summer employment.When I received my degree from Kent State University, I was so proud of myself.In our family, you were not encouraged or expected to continue your education past high school, and I had accomplished my goal through my own hard work, drive and determination.My sophomore year I was awarded a $300.00 scholarship from an organization in my home town and I still remember how excited I was to receive that money tofurther my education.In the past several years I have been thinking about establishing a scholarshipfund to help students in need, who have worked hard in school as well as on thejob to put themselves through school. When I learned of the Kent State University Center for Entrepreneurship & Business Innovation, I thought, this is what it is all about, here is where I can help. I have a special place in my heart for entrepreneurship, since I live it everyday. I believe that others should be helped to visualize and reach their own goals too. At Ray's, we have 68 taps between the two floors, we are constantly acquiring new draft beers and our line-up can change at times on a weekly basis. We are always looking for something new from around the country and the world. Enjoy.......

We Care About Our BeerAt Rays, we go the extra mile! Of course, our beer lines are wrapped in coolant from the cooler to the faucet. Moreover, we use only stainless steel fittings, taps, and faucets, thus eliminating the impurities. We use a blend of Nitrogen and CO2 gas to push our draft beers, it is just provides a much better beer taste. Last, but not least, we have an excellent beer line maintenance and cleaning program. Very few establishments in the country use all of these techniques because it cost a considerable outlay of dollars, time and commitment.

Memories of Ray's

Thank you for sharing a favorite customer or employee memory as we celebrate the 75th anniversary of Ray's Place. You may already have an idea of what you want to contribute and how you want to write it. Thats great. However, for contributors who would like an idea on how to proceed, the following information may be helpful as you prepare your contribution. Keep it concise - Ray's has many customers and employees with a lot of favorite stuff to share. You can submit as many stories as you like maybe submit each one separately if you would so we can keep things organized. If you are a Kent State alum please indicate the year or years you graduated.You can share pretty much anything you want -- whatever the story or memory is, wed like to hear it. The book will be read mostly by KSU alums and friends of Ray's but keep in mind some of them may share it family members. Stories about special romantic meetings, job interviews, farewells, reunions, graduation celebrations and family events are all welcome. We want to learn about the fond and funny, the wild and weird or the strange and sentimental. The following samples (we've already received) may give you some ideas:A regular has been coming to Ray's since he was a kid. He first came with his grandfather, then his father, then his own children and now his grandchildren. Five generations of his family has been coming to Ray's. He expects his grandkids will someday be coming to Ray's. He says each visit is like a family reunion. (He or someone from his family has been coming to Ray's since it opened).One customer (anonymous) wrote, My favorite memory of Ray's? About all I ever seem to remember is going in but I never remember coming out.A KSU professor recently on vacation in Virginia Beach saw someone wearing a Golden Flash shirt. He said hi and the vacationer immediately mentioned Ray's. Turns out the guy received the shirt as a gift from his sister, a KSU alum. He never attended KSU or lived in Kent but he always comes to Ray's whenever he visits the area.I liked doing cartwheels on the bar at closing time. - (Anonymous), class of 2005.You may also be interested in offering a suggestion for the book title.
